Dunstable Town picked up what could be a valuable point at Kempston Rovers on Saturday but were unlucky not to take all three with two goals ruled out in succession and two other efforts hitting the woodwork.

Kempston had the better of the early stages and on 18 minutes a ball was played through to a Rovers attacker but he narrowly shot wide.

A minute later a high press from Dunstable won the ball high up the pitch, which lead to  Luka Lodder having a shot blocked.

In the 22nd minute good play out wide from Town ended in a smart cross into the box but no one was able to get on the end of it to convert.

Just after the half hour mark Jordan Wright saw a superb header hit the post then Hadley Gleeson skimmed a shot against the same post a minute later.

Town then took the lead when Lewis Smith produced some fine footwork, which ended in a great pass to Lodder who took on his opponent and was taken down in the area.

Dunstable’s top scorer sent former Town keeper George Rose the wrong way with a lovely struck penalty with 33 minutes played.

Town almost increased their lead two minutes into the second half when Lodder was played through but his shot was saved by Rose.

The hosts equalised in the 55th minute when a long ball over the top was flicked on by Mehki Angol to Justin Dass who struck the ball past Mumford.

Dunstable responded well and had the ball in the net in the 74th minute but the referee blew for a foul.

Three minutes later great work from Jim Burnside ended with him rounding Rose to score but it was frustratingly ruled offside.

With ten minutes left a great cross was met by the head of Lodder but it went just over the bar.

Soon after Kempston almost scored against the run of play when a long ball over the top led to a mix up at the back but Wright did superbly well to prevent a certain goal.

The game ended level but Town will be encouraged by the performance and chances created.
