Ahead of World Mental Health Day the club can announce an addition to the You are Enough team.

The #YouAreEnough team based at Dunstable Town FC are delighted to welcome Kelsey Gibson to their ranks.

Kelsey is a former Scottish international at U16s & U17s level who went on to play for Chelsea, London Bees, AFC Dunstable & Dunstable Town FC.

Kelsey hung up her boots at the beginning of this season in order to devote the necessary time and energy to her own recovery having recognised that her mental health problems were having a negative impact on not just her performance on the pitch but in her own life.

A talented and fiercely competitive player, Kelsey is also articulate in talking about her mental health struggles and wants to share her own experiences to help others understand more about how mental health problems can affect sports players as well as members of the general public.

Andrew Madaras FSA Lead #YouAreEnough said “I’m really pleased that Kelsey accepted our invitation to work on this important campaign. It’s important for people to remember that mental health problems can affect all of us at different times of our lives. Kelsey’s own lived experience will connect with a different demographic than those that Chris Bryden & I can. The FSA & Mind are inclusive organisations and we are proud to be part of the team that is helping to share education and awareness around mental health to football supporters of every gender, age and background.

Kelsey Gibson said “I’m very excited to be working with the FSA & Mind as I want people to know that poor mental health doesn’t have to come from broken homes, broken relationships or trauma. Poor mental health can affect anyone and can be caused by chemical imbalances. I want to reach out to as many people as possible to say You Are Enough & You Matter.”

#YouAreEnough has already been successfully launched at Bury FC & Hereford FC. Plans are well underway to launch in the next couple of months at Exeter City, Clapton Community FC & Darlington.
