Leverstock Green 0-0 Dunstable Town

SCFYL - Delphian Division
Dunstable Town under 18’s travelled to fourth placed Leverstock Green on Thursday night and came away with a point in a tight game where both defences came out on top.
Third placed Town knew a win would be crucial to the run-in and chasing down of leaders Colney Heath. However, with Heath dropping points as well at Baldock Town and Oxhey Jets doing the same at Letchworth Garden City Eagles the season goes into another week of entertainment.
The Blues started well and had most of the possession in the opening ten minutes but the hosts then hit the bar from a free kick and this seemed to kick them into life as they shot narrowly wide seven minutes later.
Town responded well and in the space of three minutes, Emmanuel Agblemegah’s shot was well saved by the Leverstock keeper, Matias Iocabuta hit a powerful free kick into the wall and Jamari Wangaa’s shot was saved.
In the 32nd minute the home side shot over but it wasn’t until a minute before half time that the next effort came in with Billy Goodwin’s excellent strike narrowly missing the target.
Alfie Young tested the keeper two minutes into the second half but the game then became scrappy before a Leverstock free kick was well blocked by the Town defensive wall.
There was little goalmouth action from then on as both teams seemed tense and unable to create many opportunities.
Owen Russell did though have an effort go just wide with two minutes remaining but the game ended in a draw, which was a fair reflection of a well contested game between two good sides.
