Pre-match: Micky Nathan’s pre-match notes v Arlesey Town

“Good afternoon and welcome to Dunstable Town FC.

“Today, we welcome Arlesey Town following our recent double-header against Harpenden Town FC. Those two matches provided plenty of drama, including penalties, goals, and significant talking points.

”Our first encounter with Harpenden was my first home game under the lights. It was a memorable evening against my former club, resulting in our first three points. Despite a difficult start where we conceded early and found ourselves two goals down, the team showed great character. A fantastic penalty save from Sam Carman shifted the momentum, allowing us to dominate the second half. It was the best performance Steve and I have seen since joining and the players thoroughly deserved the victory for their hard work.

“In the reverse fixture on Saturday, we started strong and took a deserved 2-0 lead into half time. However, we became passive in the second half, allowing a young Harpenden side to fight back to 3-2. After missing a penalty and chasing the game, we managed to secure a late equaliser. While it felt like two points dropped given our early lead, taking four points from those two games provides a strong platform for the remainder of the season.

“We have eight games left in this campaign, seven of which are here at Creasey Park plus an away fixture at AFC Welwyn. Our fate remains in our hands. We have proven we can compete with top opposition; now, we must translate those performances into consistent wins.

”As a management team, our belief in this group has never wavered. Having secured that recent win, the players must now push on with hunger and desire. If we replicate the application shown in our recent standout halves, I have no doubt we will achieve the results we need.

“We expect a tough match against Arlesey Town today. Despite their recent transitions, there are no easy games in this league and we must be fully prepared.

“I appreciate that this season has not been easy for the supporters. Your encouragement in these final games truly makes a difference, and we are committed to ensuring the team gives you a performance to be proud of.

“I would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone associated with this great football club to welcoming me in with open arms. Everyone has been so nice and easy to talk to. I hope I am the same. Lets get this football club back to where it belongs.”

Enjoy the game.

Best regards,

Micky
