Dunstable Town Women were on the end of a disappointing performance against Hitchin Belles on Sunday.
After being on a good run of form with four clean sheets in six games Town were in confident mood going into this one but poorly conceded goals saw them 3-0 down in the opening stages.
Amy Leach pulled one back for the Blues before half time but her game ended soon after with a knee injury.

Town came out with more hunger in the second half and scored a second when Lexxie Burton narrowed the score when she nipped in to take the ball as the Hitchin keeper came to claim it and scored.

The visitors were adamant that Burton had knocked the ball out of the keepers’ control but it was a tight call as both players seemed to touch it at the same time.

Not long after, Ellie Sargeant’s cross caused all sorts of confusion in the box, which saw the ball end up in the net.

There was still plenty of minutes to play but Dunstable were unable to create clear chances other than a shot from Sargeant that went just over the bar.
It was a disappointing way to end their home campaign but one that will hopefully prove a valuable learning curve going forward.
