Dunstable Town’s luck has to turn soon as they came so close to taking a 3-2 lead at Wormley Rovers but Jake Anthony’s header crashed off the bar, which could have been a game changer.
That, on top of two great strikes, which always seem to go in when you’re down the bottom end of the table and a soft penalty at the end consigned Town to defeat.
The Blues brought in keeper Sam Carman for the injured Alfie Mumford.
They made a good start when Lewis Smith played a ball into Kyle Rahho whose effort ball from twenty yards out called the hosts keeper into a save.
Three minutes later Wormley had a chance with a long ball over the top that caught out the Dunstable defence which saw a Rovers forward try to unsuccessfully lob Carman.
Midway through the half a great double save by Carman down low saw him gather the ball at the second attempt.
Town took the lead on 28 minutes when a great ball from Sam Nicholls fed Rahho, who slotted home.
The lead only lasted three minutes though when another long ball over the top found Reece Mosanya who drove into the box to equalise.
On 35 minutes Wormley took the lead when Dec Enche volleyed home from an angle on the edge of the box
Dunstable pulled level on the hour mark when a fine free kick from Smith was headed home by JJ Kenna.
The visitors came so close to taking the lead in the 72nd minute when another accurate set piece cross from Smith found Anthony in the area but his header agonisingly came back off the bar.
When things were going against Town, Wormley’s Tom Mulqueen decided to hit a sweet left footed strike into the top corner from distance with twelve minutes to go, it was another salt in the wounds moment, before a soft penalty was converted by Rovers’ Caidyn Remy-Dee with the last kick of the game.
Town continue to create chances and will hope hard work will turn their luck in the run in.
Harshly denied goals at Kempston and a possible handball on the line last week at Potton and a header off the bar this week, things will hopefully level out in Dunstable’s favour soon.
