Dunstable Town Women produced a superb comeback to defeat Biggleswade United with two late goals to make it three wins from the last three games.

The Blues had to overturn a below par first half performance and a two goal deficit to claim the points. They were slow to get going with Biggleswade dominating possession for most of the half.

The visitors opened the scoring in the second minute when Town were caught cold when a throw down the line and subsequent cross found an attacking player unmarked in the box to score with ease.

Six minutes later they came within inches of doubling the lead when a free kick rattled the crossbar and came down, thankfully the right side of the line for Dunstable.

It was 2-0 though in the 15th minute when a clearance from the United back line found its way to a forward who laid the ball off to her team mate who charged down an attempted clearance from Dunstable to go through and score.

Town responded with Lola Cook shooting wide soon after then Megan Molloy had an effort go just wide with 26 minutes gone.

Biggleswade shot wide just before the break as they went into it with a comfortable lead.

Dunstable came out early for the second half and got off to the perfect start when Cerys Rees found the net from the tightest of angles to get her team back in it with 51 minutes gone.

They were showing much more strength and determination with six more shots on goal but couldn’t find a way through.

In the opening minutes of added time Town were awarded a penalty when Amy Leach was fouled just inside box. Monet Grace-Wille stepped up and confidently struck home the spot kick.

The game was far from over though as more drama came when Rees was on the end of a late tackle 25 yards out which produced a yellow card for her opponent.

Grace-Wille took the free kick from an angle on the right and planted it over the keeper and into the top corner to spark wild scenes of joy.

A great show of character to turn a defeat into a win in the most dramatic way.
