Dunstable Town produced a superb first half performance in which they scored three times in the opening twenty minutes.

They nearly took the lead in the first minute when Luka Lodder forced Sam Galatis into a save but within sixty seconds Lodder scored a great goal.

Playing a pass out wide to Hadley Gleeson the Town captain sprinted forward to tap home Gleeson’s cross from eight yards out.

They forced a corner when another shot was blocked soon after before Nikolav Rusev shot just wide for Potton on 9 minutes.

Town doubled the lead in the 18th minute when Montel Brown picked up the ball on the right wing and took on his opponent before cutting inside and finishing well with a low curling strike.

Two minutes later it was 3-0 as a brilliantly worked short free kick from Lewis Smith found Lodder who had broken the back line with precision to finish past Galatis.

Town controlled the game from then on until half fime but the visitors’ Gilbert shot wide before Pedrites’ shot was easily saved by Alex Desmond in the closing stages.

The second half was a contrast to the first as Potton tightened up and reduced Town’s time on the ball.

Gleeson produced a golden chance for Brown to make it 4-0 in the 53rd minute but he was agonisingly just short of converting it at the far post.

Potton pulled a goal back soon after when Town gave the ball away to Rusev who scored via the far post to give them hope.

Dunstable went looking again for the fourth goal with Gleeson having a shot saved then Lodder also produced a good save from Galatis just after the hour mark.

The visitors appealed for a penalty when Desmond seemed to slide into an opponent but the referee thought otherwise.

Harrison Mead has a shot blocked in the 68th minute but there was little goalmouth action until five minutes to go when Lodder, seeking his hat-trick, had a shot deflected for a corner.

Town picked up their first win of the season and now turn attentions to the FA Cup on Saturday at home to Great Wakering Rovers.
