This was a below par performance in Hertfordshire in Town’s penultimate pre-season friendly on Saturday.
The Blues were frustrated by a well organised Codicote side. Despite creating chances in the first half the home keeper was rarely tested.
Passes were struggling to find their target and the slow pace of the game played into the hosts hands.
Codiote missed two early chances from close range before Dunstable tried to create opportunities but the final pass or shot needed improvement.
Both teams went into the break goalless but The Cods started the second half positively and opened the scoring five minutes in when their attacker was played in before rounding the visiting keeper to slot home.
Town then had a header inches over the bar. Codicote defended resolutely throughout and showed great determination to block the efforts of the visitors.
They increased their lead with fifteen minutes remaining when another through ball found a Codicote player in space who finished well into the bottom corner.
It was 3-0 in the 89th minute when Town allowed the home sides forward to turn on the halfway line and break clear of the defence. He managed to run half the length of the pitch before passing the ball into the net.
Their last friendly is against Cambridge City on Tuesday night on ATP2 at Creasey Park.
