It was announced at the club AGM on Friday night that Matt Carrington and Luke Mitchell have been voted in by fellow directors to become Chairman and Vice Chairman respectively.
Following the news that Andrew Madaras was to stand down to concentrate on a different role within the club, Matt and Luke were unanimously elected to replace him (as chairman) and Matt’s former role as vice chairman.
Matt is a lifelong fan of the club and his passion for it will no doubt be essential to driving the club forward.
As well as vice chairman, Matt also held the position of treasurer and other roles. He could often be heard on the tannoy reading the teams out and also letting the whole of Dunstable know when Town had scored with his announcements when the ball hits the back of the opposition net!
The announcers role will be passed on to someone new but I’m sure Matt will be tempted to make a few announcements again at some point!
Luke has been around the club for quite sometime having previously supported former manager Gareth Jackson in a scouting role but has been more involved in the club the last two years after bringing over his U14’s youth side to Dunstable from Toddington.
His team would go on to win the County Cup last season and produce a number of players for the U18’s floodlit team.
He is also the secretary of the youth section and assistant manager of the floodlit team.
The club wish both well in the next step of their journey and again place of record its thanks to Andrew for all he has done for the club and community as a whole in his role as chairman for the last five years.
We can also announce that Neil Barker was re-elected as Director of Football and Peter Bottom also remains as Director of Supporters Groups. Both were unanimously re-elected by club owners at the AGM.
Neil has been a fantastic link between the men’s first team and the directors. He is also becoming more involved with the youth section and will also play a big part with the women’s team, which we hope to announce more about soon.
Peter is a kind and passionate person for the community and people of the club. Having become involved with the club a few years ago, he took on the Director of Fundraising role before his current position.
He is also involved with walking football, community groups and recently started the Blues Together project.
The club are delighted that Neil and Peter will continue in their roles for at least another two years.
