Sunday 29th July 2018 Creasey Park. Dunstable Town Supporters 2 v Bedford Royals 6.
“Charity Begins At Home, Creasey Park, The Home Of Dunstable Town FC”
You have to admire the enthusiasm and dedication of the players of both teams to play a game of football in blustery and rainy conditions in order to raise funds for the Club’s chosen charity, Mind.
Although the weather undoubtedly kept many spectators away, the faithful and the curious were treated to an eight goal spectacle which saw the nominal visitors race to a five goal lead at half time. Such was the interest and the desire to help both organisations that thirty- five players in total represented both teams including former Dunstable Town captain, Graeme Buchanan, who proved that while form may be temporary, class is permanent.
While the Supporters team won the battle of the second half, the real winners of the day were Mind who received just over £270 from the generosity of players and supporters alike.
Special thanks to Blues supporter, Brian Day, who had the vision to plan the game, and the organisational skills to ensure the game went ahead, to Alpha Scientific (Slough) who made a generous donation to help cover the costs of arranging the game, Referee, Mark Benson, who waived his fee and to Creasey Park who gave a discount on the cost of hiring the pitch.
