A second run out in five days for Tony McCool’s evolving squad saw the Blues run out winners by the odd goal in seven, in a see-saw game, which had seen Dunstable stroll to a two goal lead mid way in the first half before a strong comeback from Crawley Green had the hosts on the ropes and trailing 3-2 with 20 minutes left, before a strong finish from the home side eventually saw them over the line.
This was an exhilarating spectacle played on the 3g at Creasey Park, under clear blue skies and a now customary baking hot sun. The game was played at a ferocious pace, with both sides playing neat, attractive football which was pleasing on the eye for the fans of both sides. New Dunstable signing, Chris Wreh, scored a hat trick, with Arel Amu converting from the penalty spot with the game tied at 3-3.
Tony McCool & Gareth Jackson expressed their satisfaction with pre- season preparations and the signings of new players to the Club and those who have stayed despite last season’s relegation from the Evo-Stik Southern League. Results of pre- season games are largely secondary to being able to look at players and systems with bigger goals ahead when the season kicks off in earnest on August 18th.
On Tuesday 10th August, the Blues had lost their first pre-season friendly against Arlesey Town. On Tuesday 17th, the Blues entertain Enfield Borough at Creasey Park on the 3g, before traveling to Brunel University on Saturday 21st July to play Harefield Utd.
Home fans get the chance to see two more confirmed pre-season friendlies at Creasey Park on Thursday 26th and Saturday 28th July when Bovingdon & Harpenden Town are our respective visitors.
