As part of the club’s ongoing development of its Community Education programme, it is now offering matchday work experience opportunities for students. This has already started to pay dividends through the good offices of Kevin Alderson - long-standing member of The Regiment, Head of Matchday Stewarding and lecturer at Central Bedfordshire College.

Kevin has begun to identify students, who as part of their Pathway Course studies have to undertake work experience with an outside organisation. To this end, the first student from the college to take advantage of this scheme is Ellis Chisolme.

Ellis’ first taste of work experience was at the recent home game against Farnborough. Ellis came along with his father and brother. Once his family were nicely settled, Ellis was introduced to a number of the committee members who made him feel most welcome. Neil Barker, our Vice-Chairman, then guided Ellis through his first matchday, which consisted of helping the committee with hospitality in the boardroom.

Ellis did a great job of meeting, greeting and helping to look after our guests from Farnborough. He made a great impression on both sets of club officials. Ellis was polite, conscientious and made everybody feel most welcome.

Over the coming season, Ellis will attend more home matches and will learn more about different aspects of how the club operates on a matchday. He will pitch in and assist different members of the committee as well as other matchday volunteers with their various roles and responsibilities.

Ellis has already proved what a fine young man he is and is an excellent ambassador for both the college and the club.
