As we have highlighted in the past few months, the club is developing and expanding its community football activities. To this end we have been working in partnership with Josh Spavins from Bedfordshire FA; Joe Selmes and Jon Henkes from our Community School of the Season, Weatherfield Academy; and Jade Wheeler from Central Bedfordshire College to create sustainable disability teams for young adults whilst still studying and after they leave school or college.
As we have found that there are no teams for them to join in the local area when they leave their educational institutions. Thus, we are pleased to announce we have created two new young adult disability teams with students from both the school and the college representing the club.
Last Friday, the two teams - Dunstable Town Blues and Dunstable Town Lions, played their first competitive matches in the Bedfordshire FA’s Ability Counts League, in the Championship Division.
Our players played with commitment, enthusiasm and passion. They were great ambassadors for the club on and off the pitch and their sportsmanship was commended by all. They enjoyed themselves and we are all really proud of them. We look forward to reporting on their progress in the coming months.
