GEORGE'S BIG DAY

One of our youth team player's was the Dunstable Town mascot for our first pre season match against Marlow. He asked if he could write a blog about his day. How could we say no?

I arrived at Marlow with my brother and my Mum and Dad,. Walking through the ground we meet Dunstable Town secretary Paul Harris who told us some funny stories. We also met the new Chairman Alex and his son Louis. After a chat with them I met former Luton Town and QPR legend Kevin Gallen, who was with the new Gaffer Tony McCool.

I was so excited to see the new managers and players. Then I had a photo with Kevin Gallen and then watched the players warm up. At this point I was getting excited as I was mascot for the first friendly. The players went in and I walked down to wait for them, the Marlow coach come out and shook my hand and said I looked smart in my Dunstable Town kit.

Both teams come out and the new captain for the season John Sonuga walked out and said hello and asked my name and I held his hand and we walked out. I was allowed to go with John for the coin toss, which John asked me to call it. Sadly I called tails and lost. I ran over for the game to start, the first half I watched from the side of the pitch, near the main stand which was good but the second half was brilliant as we stood behind the goal with the Dunstable fans and even the chairman Alex. It was really funny my Dad said the Dunstable Town fans have great banter .

I was disappointed with the linesman for not allowing a goal which went over the line by a mile but as the linesman was too slow, he couldn't see it so didn't give the goal.

I had a great day meeting everyone and will definitely be coming again and hopefully be mascot again, if I am lucky .
