The Year 4 students at Totternhoe Lower School, our Community School of the Season, had a real treat when our all-action left back Gedeon Okita recently ran a training session for them. The session began with Gedeon outlining his football career to date. They were fascinated to learn that he was in the same youth side as premiership players Dele Alli and Brendon Galloway.
Gedeon exuded all his natural Irish charm and the kids certainly warmed to his engaging personality and wit. The training session was excellent in that Gedeon got all the children involved in a variety of activities that developed their ball-control and passing skills. The session finished off with a number of matches, where the golden rule was that every team member had to receive a pass before a goal could be scored. This increased the enjoyment, inclusion and interaction of all the children. The Totternhoe kids have demanded that Gedeon returns to train them again and this will certainly be the case.
When asked what he thought of the session, Gedeon stated he was blown away by “…the kids eagerness to learn and their enthusiasm”.
