The Club’s Community School project is going from strength to strength with John, Paul, Tony and Danny all getting involved in various activities and events with local schools. Much more school engagement is planned for the coming months and will be reported on in match-day programmes.
Thanks to the good work of the Chairman, club officials and the managers when they visit the schools and other external education events, the schools and the students are left with a good impression of the club. This has a positive knock-on effect as we now see more children with their parents and other family members and friends coming along on match-days. They are having a great time not only watching the match but getting involved in activities such as being mascots, meeting the players and kicking a ball about on the hallowed Creasey Park turf!
Evidence of this positive engagement with young people from local schools was the recent home match against Merthyr Town FC. We had a great attendance from young fans from Totternhoe Lower School, Kensworth Primary School, Weatherfield Academy, Linslade Academy and Eaton Bray Lions FC Under 10s. Not only did they have great fun on the day but also made friends with the hardy youngsters supporting Merthyr Town who had made the long journey with their parents to support their team.
Here are the kids enjoying a rest at half-time in the home dugout! As the photograph shows we are well on the way to developing the next generation of fans at Dunstable Town FC.
