I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you that came to watch the under 14’s game last week that was put on in memory of Ethan Houghton and his family.
We have finished September strongly and find ourselves sitting nicely following an exceptional month, especially the game at our old favourites Kettering Town.
After going a goal down and Kettering having a goal disallowed in the first 10 mins it looked as if we were in for a tough afternoon,. Kettering then had a player sent off but they battled bravely for the remainder of the half with old Blues favourite Gary “Mullers” Mullighan looking relatively untroubled as he mastered their defence. Blues never took the man advantage and scoring chances were few and far between as the first half finished 1 -0 to the hosts.
The 2nd half started a lot better with The Blues playing the flowing football that they are currently producing and new signing Kelvin “ The Boss “ Bossman made a dramatic start to his Blues career with a first touch debut goal for the club, which firmly cemented his place in the hearts of The Regiment.
Then what followed was amazing as The Blues were awarded 3 penalties, 2 of which were converted, the 3rd saved by the keeper and then after 6 or so added minutes and a lovely typical Kettering Town send off from their “fans” as we tried to leave the ground victorious. Needless to say we were not made welcome and left with haste.
We then celebrated in style at the Dunstable beer and cider festival where the supporters club sponsored a beer. We celebrated long into the night and eventually we ended up at The Wheatsheaf where we were treated to our own disco by the new landlord as everyone else in the pub had gone, bizarre to say the least.
The first DTFCSC last man standing is getting very close to completion with The Chairman [John] and Scotties Son the last men standing, so therefore we will getting geared up to start a new one soon, this time we are going to run this ourselves.
So get your money ready and prepare to join in the fun, come and see us at the new supporters club shed for details or speak directly to Scotty who will be marshalling the fun on our behalf.
This month’s fixtures see us take on Slough which looks as if it will be a massive game so please let’s keep supporting Yella, Talbs and the rest of the lads and keep up the fine start to the season.
