Dunstable Town boss Tony Fontenelle is hoping that his side can improve in front of goal ahead of their match against Paulton Rovers this Saturday.

The Blues go into the game without top goal scorer Danny Talbot, who has nine league goals to his name this season.

Fontenelle said: “He has been massive for us and he is going to be a big loss this weekend, but it’s time for the lads to show we can win football matches without him being available.”

Last week, Dunstable signed striker Jonathan Edwards from Peterborough United and the forward making his debut in the 0-0 draw against Bideford last Saturday, with the Blues now only claiming one win in their last six matches.

Fontenelle was impressed with his performance and hopes his arrival will help give Dunstable the cutting edge they desperately need at the moment.

He said: “He got some nice touches and has a good presence about him, he’s a very good footballer.

“I’m hoping he will be able to breathe some life into us as an attacking threat, he works hard and he will create opportunities.”

Dunstable take on third from bottom Paulton Rovers this weekend, who are 13 points from safety with nine games to play.

Paulton travel to Creasey Park against a Dunstable side with the joint best home win record this season, alongside Leamington, with Rovers needing points from nearly every game if they have any hope of survival.

Fontenelle said: “They are fighting for their lives and they will be scrapping with the teams that are trying to pull away from the relegation zone.

“They have still got a mathematical chance of staying up and I don’t believe they will give up until it’s impossible, so it’s going to be a tough game, they are coming down here looking to get some form of result for certain.”

Dunstable take on Paulton this Saturday, with the match kicking off at 3pm at Creasey Park.
