It was a bad week for Dunstable Town this week as we were unfortunately beaten by what was a strong King’s Lynn side that are aiming to finish in a play-off position.
We went into the game confident, as at home we have been one of the best sides in the league and hadn’t dropped many points.
However, the big loss to Chesham in our last game may have had a lasting effect. The first goal was disappointing as defensively we switched off and apart from the Chesham game as a unit including Jamie in goal we have been faultless, if we are to re-establish the kind of form that saw us go eight games unbeaten we will need to cut out these errors.
Overall it was a poor first half performance and we knew as soon as we went into the dressing room. We started the second half extremely well and with a bit of luck we could have scored at least a couple in the opening stages.
Unfortunately, their striker hit a long range effort into the corner mid-way through the half which made a comeback unlikely.
Overall, although we lost, we showed a lot of fight in the second half and as previously mentioned with a bit of luck we could have turned it around.
Going into what is a huge week of football it will be important we start games with the tempo we started in the second half against Kings Lynn. If we get back our defensive solidarity and start games with how we started the second half against king’s Lynn I have no doubt that we will go on another unbeaten run.
Yella and Talbs have been working on a few things in training which I am confident will allow us to get back to our best, and with only 14 games of the season remaining its vital we do this as soon as possible.
We have three difficult games this week and despite the last two results we are aiming to take maximum points as we are above all three teams in the league and want to re-establish our place in the play-offs.
