To this end, the club is proud to announce that it has selected Totternhoe Lower School to become its first Community School of the Season. At the close of the Summer term, the Chairman, John McLoughlin and Manager, Tony Fontenelle visited the school to kick-off this partnership. John spoke to a group of Year 4 children about the club and to encourage them to come along to home matches with their families. John was impressed with the organisation of the school and the children in terms of their behaviour, types of questions they asked and their enthusiasm. He said – “I look forward to working closely with the school and that it will be our Community School of the Season”.

Following John’s chat with the children, Tony ran a training session with the children, going through certain drills, teaching them new skills and finishing off with a match. The children loved the session as the following quotes show – “I really enjoyed the football coaching session by the Dunstable Town FC Manager – it was great…Thank you for teaching us how to play football. It was tiring work but I had fun and was on the winning team!..Thank you for showing me how to play football, it was such fun and Tony who was doing the training was very kind!”

Tony was also impressed with the children, stating “They were lovely children, well behaved. There were some skilful players, boys and girls – hopefully, I can offer some of them a deal for the season!”.

The school is obviously very excited about this new partnership and Debbie Mitchelmore, Assistant Headteacher said of the visit – “The children had the opportunity to train and play with the Manager, Tony Fontenelle and to make the link with the club. They learned more about the club from the Chairman, John McLoughlin. We look forward to working with the club over the coming season”.

There will be regular updates in the match day programmes about the work the club will be doing with Totternhoe Lower School and other schools.
