The Town are back in action.....

DUNSTABLE TOWN (3) 8 v The 61 FC (Luton) (0) 0

This time last a year ago pre-season friendly’s against nominally lower placed teams in the football pyramid gave Dunstable Town some real struggles. Bovingdon, Crawley Green, Arlesey, Harpenden, all came to Creasey Park and gave our lads a stern test and the managers a headache or two before the season had even started.

Tonight we entertained 61FC (Luton) from the second division of the Spartan South Midland League, who despite the scoreline gave a pretty good account of themselves particularly in the first half when only trailing by a solitary goal, a penalty in the first few minutes of the game, matched Dunstable’s work rate and effort and looked dangerous on several occasions. Tonight’s game finished 8 – 0 and saw Manager Gareth Jackson, now aided and abetted by Ryan Sturges as his assistant and Wayne Upton as coach, give playing time to many of the new crop of players who have already trialed and trained six times, run up the Downs once, played in torrential downpours and under the baking hot sun of only three days ago on Saturday.

And none of the new recruits let them down. Nor did old hands, Daniel Trif, Paddy Patru, Ben Collins, Davide Pobbe, who scored a peach of a goal with a curled effort from a difficult angle, Ehban Nancarrow-Martin, and Kieron Ogden.

There were some strong performances from several newcomers all looking to make a name for themselves and get selected for Saturday’s match against Bletchley based Unite MK.

There will be unfamiliar names rolling off the tongue very soon I have no doubt given the attractive style of play that was on display this evening. And with some complimentary comments on the performance from the three match officials Dunstable can feel satisfied with a good run out against a spirited and dogged opposition and head up the A5 on Saturday with a spring in their step and a smile on their faces.

Please note that the away match at Unite MK is a 12 noon kick off and will be played at Unite MK’s home ground ( Manor Fields, Watling Street, Milton Keynes, MK2 2HU)

Before that though supporters and members of the Club are reminded that the AGM takes place this Friday at Creasey Park at 7pm. The meeting is open to everyone but only Club members who paid their membership fees last season are eligible to vote.

We hope as many of you as possible will attend and give Gareth & Ryan your whole heated support and snap up Adult Season Tickets at £99 (less than £4.50/match) and Concessionary Season Tickets at £79 (less than £3.50/match) Members will have the opportunity to renew their membership with prospective new members able to sign up on the night for just £10.

Our next home pre season friendly is on Wednesday 10th July when Ampthill Town are the visitors for a 7 30 kick off on the 3g. Admission is free.

After the disappointment of the last two seasons and two successive relegations lets set the record straight, we’re back, we’re going nowhere and we are one club, one family, Dunstable Town.
