COMMUNITY PARTNER SCHOOL
Dunstable Town is proud to announce that Weatherfield Academy has become its Community Partner School. This will mean the club and school have entered into a long-term partnership to develop and deliver lifelong learning opportunities for the students of Weatherfield.
The decision to create this partnership has been borne out of the excellent activities that thus far have taken place this season. These include running friendly football tournaments for students who are not part of organised football clubs; students being mascots on match-days; organising and hosting a round of the FA People’s Cup; creating two young adults and one girls Ability Counts teams where Weatherfield students play for Dunstable Town; Gedeon Okito, the club captain, running regular training sessions for students at the school; providing work experience opportunities on match-days for the school’s sixth formers; and in partnership with Dunstable Library, running workshops that consist of a tour of the library and the students learning more about the social history of the town as well as the history of the club.
Joe Selmes, the headteacher at Weatherfield Academy stated “We are honoured to be associated with Dunstable Town as its Community Partner School. We hope our pupils gain confidence, have experiences and support their local team through this partnership. This is a big part of our lifelong learning focus for our students”.
