TONY'S NOTES - FARNBOROUGH
It’s a great pleasure to welcome such a great club on this official non-league day 2017 and I hope we can serve up a really good exciting football match for both sets of supporters.
I want to take the opportunity to thank Spencer Day and Jon Reed. These are proper football people and have been tremendous to us behind the scenes and totally understand the dynamics and challenge of building from where we started and have been keen to support us and help us along the way.
We are making progress and also making decisions as we have now put players to the test. The core group that have come through that spell have been placed on long term development plans with a view to helping them improve and hopefully increasing their chances of recognition higher up and sustaining a career in the professional game.
On behalf of the club I want to thank Will Henry. A really wonderful young man, a totally focused professional. His call up to England and his earlier than planned recall, leaves us knocking on other doors, but I am pleased for him and although we are working on his return, either way I’m sure you will all join me in wishing him well.
You have also seen now another 3 new faces in what was a bit of an experiment in our recent game against AFC Dunstable and albeit we lost on penalties, I thought we had done enough to win in normal time and perhaps should have had a penalty. But in terms of the experiment, it showed that it really strengthened us and although the sustainability and pathway project is still on track, it shows we can still add some strength that can help us get some much needed points at this level. Hopefully, starting today.
