HUDSON STRIDES FORWARD
The Club’s policy of investing in youth and creating a pathway for players to improve and progress in the game has borne further fruit. This coming Sunday, 10th September, Aaron Hudson, one of our emerging talents has been selected to play for the Bedfordshire FA Under 18 Representative Team against their counterparts from the Berkshire and Buckinghamshire FA for the Doug Frost Memorial Trophy. The match will be played at Barton Rovers FC’s ground and kick-off is at 2.00pm.
The Club is delighted that Aaron is being acknowledged for his great flare with inclusion in the Bedfordshire FA team for this prestigious match.
Tony McCool is enthused by Aaron’s selection as it is something the manager encourages. As Tony states – “It fits perfectly with everything we are striving to achieve at our club and its new identity. Giving young players an opportunity, trusting them and working with them to help with their holistic individual development”.
Tony highlights that Aaron came to our pre-season trials and was very impressive. As Tony explains, “I wanted to challenge Aaron and we had conversations. Aaron reacted well to it and from that point at 17 years of age, I thought he was perfect for what we wanted to do and Aaron has potential to progress”.
Tony explained that in pre-season, Aaron was played out of position – “…this challenged him psychologically as well as tactically and he coped fine. I was in no doubt that he would get his chance in the first team and indeed he appeared in our first two games. Aaron is still learning but this platform is great for him and I’m excited about his chances, provided he keeps taking on the challenges and reacting the way he has”.
The Club wishes Aaron all the best for Sunday’s encounter and his continued progression in the first team.
