CHAIRMAN'S LOG: HIS THOUGHTS SO FAR
What a difference a year can make.
This time last year we had not won a game and things for were looking bleak, however I had belief in Tony and Danny and I am so glad I went with my instincts as Dunstable Town FC have had the best start within the southern league premier in the club's history.
Not only did I cut the budget top keep us stable, Tony and Danny have produced a great team of youngsters that can go on and push DTFC into a playoff spot. The management team have worked their socks off and I admire their honesty to me and I believe we have a unique working relationship that no other club has got.
As I write this we are joint second with 16 points. We never expected that and this is a testament to all of our players. Players that graft are worth their weight in gold and we have 18 of them, 18 players that want to play for each other and DTFC.
During pre season I lost my desire in football for many reasons that I cannot make public, but Yella and Talbs have given me the hunger back and the desire and I hope this continues. Financially the club is stable, however I am actively looking for another investor to build now and start building the foundations that we never had. I still believe in the youth and I am constantly working with them to help move this club forward.
We had the tragic death of Ethan Houghton his Brother and Mother of which no words can describe but at this moment I have seen a togetherness at DTFC and I am proud of how we all turned up to show our respects.
May I also state that Malcolm Aubrey has worked his socks off pre season as Yella kept him busy. I would also like to mention that Paul Harris (Pipeman) has attended his 1000th game against Banbury and again his work does not go unnoticed.
I will also be working closely with local schools to raise the profile of the club as again if we had another 50 people attending each home match then we could all relax that is the long term goal and with the help of the supporters club we can achieve this.
We are on the up.
