MATCH PREVIEW: NEW BRADWELL ST PETER FC v DUNSTABLE TOWN
After a 5-1 defeat in their first game of pre-season, Dunstable Town boss Tony Fontenelle is hoping his side can prove themselves against New Bradwell St Peter FC tonight.
The loss to Ware pales into insignificance slightly with the club announcing the departure of Adam Watkins, Connor Calcutt and Steven Wales.
The three players were vital cogs in the Blues side last season, but Fontenelle said he doesn’t bare any grudges.
He said: “Obviously they are three fantastic players and have all left for their own reasons, and there are now huge voids to fill, the biggest thing we need to replace is that experience.
“With those three leaving, we are now one or two signings short of where we want to be at, I am hoping in the next week we are able to get suitable replacements in.”
The loss to Ware has given Fontenelle and Talbot the chance to look at players they were unsure of at first and make their minds up as to the players’ Dunstable Town future.
Fontenelle continued: “The positive thing is, it gave me and Talbs (assistant manager, Danny Talbot) the opportunity to look at players who we had questions over, it has probably helped make our decision.
“It is a massive opportunity for the younger players and the thing is, with every pre-season every player starts with a clean slate and it is down to the individual to impress.”
Dunstable Town take on New Bradwell St Peter FC away at The Recreation Ground, with a 7:45pm kick-off.
