MATCH PREVIEW: HUNGERFORD TOWN v DUNSTABLE TOWN
Dunstable Town assistant boss Danny Talbot said he will take a win in any form to break what has been an awful run of form for the Blues.
The club have lost eight of their last ten games, with their latest game against relegation threatened Paulton Rovers finishing as a 2-1 loss for the Creasey Park outfit.
Talbot said: “It’s been frustrating, we haven’t performed to the level we were at.
We are on a really bad run and we are losing a lot of games, we are conceding goals and we don’t look like scoring a goal, which is a problem.”
Talbot said he believes the only way his side can break the losing habit is through a good work ethic and at this point, a win in any form would be welcome.
He said: “The only way we are going to get through it is hard work, pressing teams and trying to win the ball back quickly.
“We need to stop making mistakes in bad areas and maybe nick a goal from a set piece, get a clean sheet and give ourselves a chance to get some points on the board.”
Although on a poor run of results, Dunstable have found a good defensive partnership in Adam Pepera and captain James Kaloczi, with Talbot particularly impressed by the latter.
Talbot said: “Kaloczi has done really well, that’s why when Paul Bastock left, we wanted to put him in as club captain.
“He’s done very well, for a 21 year old he has played like a man and has been one of the consistent performers of the season.”
The Blues travel to Hungerford this weekend, a side Dunstable scored a last minute winner against earlier on in the season, but since then Hungerford have improved and now find themselves fighting for a playoff place.
Talbot has been impressed by Bobby Wilkinson’s men who currently sit in 4th place with 67 points.
The assistant boss said: “We are taking on a side who are thinking they are getting into the playoffs, they’re going to have good energy and be very direct.
“They’ll be very hungry and we have got to try and match that, it’s going to be a hard slog to try and get the best from the lads to try and match them.”
Dunstable Town travel to Hungerford this Saturday with a 3pm kick-off.
