THE CAPTAIN'S BLOG: STILL CONFIDENT AFTER LOSSES
This week was another affected by the weather as another one of our games was called off, this time at Kettering.
Unfortunately for us it was done so very late and all the team had already travelled to the ground!
We will now travel to Kettering later on in the season on what I am told a Thursday night due to their fixture congestion. We were able to play Leamington this Tuesday however after it was called off earlier in the season.
Against Leamington a team who were tipped to win the league I was confident we could turn around our recent bad form of two losses.
Although we had a nervy two minutes at the beginning, we settled into the game well. The plan was to try and weather the storm for the first half going up there slight hill and try and dominate the second with all the conditions behind us.
We managed to go in at 0-0 at the break and it was an extremely pleasing half.
There was a couple of nervous moments but other than that we worked hard and frustrated a team which knew they had to win at all costs.
We started the second half in a sloppy manner, giving the ball away cheaply on what was an excellent surface for the time of year.
The pressure built and we were unable to get out of our half until a long range effort was deflected painfully into the bottom corner past Jamie.
Despite desperate efforts from the team we were unable to get an equaliser and the game finished 1-0.
It was highly disappointing to continue our recent bad form especially after what was a much improved defensive performance from the whole team.
Saturday we are back at home and despite the King's Lynn result we have had a lot success at Creasey Park this season.
We go into this game off the back of three bad results, however strangely enough I feel extremely confident of getting three points.
We have worked on a couple of things in training which I feel we lacked on Tuesday and I know the boys are 100% focused on getting the three points and hopefully kick starting another great run in the league.
Lastly there is a Race Night starting at 7.30 on Saturday at Creasey Park, I know many first team players will be attending and it would be great to see as many of you there as possible supporting the club!
