THE CAPTAIN'S BLOG: KEEPING UP THE HARD WORK
Dunstable Town currently sit 5th in the Southern Premier League after two great wins over Dorchester on Saturday and Stratford on Tuesday.
First up a strong Dorchester side came to Creasey Park looking to get back into a play-off position. We knew that a big week was ahead with three home games in a row and we had the mind-set that each of them is and still are a must win, if we are going to fulfil our aspirations of pushing up the league ourselves. We started well with a goal from Zack Reynolds against Dorchester, in which he has assured me that it was a shot rather than a cross, however looking back at the video I am still not sure. Thankfully with a bit of luck as well, we managed to hold on to the clean sheet and three points which made it six (five wins, one draw) games unbeaten and three clean sheets in a row.
On Tuesday we were high on confidence playing a young side in Stratford. The conditions were hard to play in and we felt like if we started quickly and got a goal that they would struggle to come back. This was the case in the end, and it was a professional performance against a team that haven't lost many games of late. However, it was disappointing to concede late on when the game was won as we would have loved another clean sheet. Overall it has been a great January so far, winning all three games and only conceding one goal. We are also seven games unbeaten, winning six of them! It will be important to finish the week and month well against a Cambridge side who are back to winning ways after beating Frome on Wednesday night.
Let's hope the form continues!
